Insp Darren Starkey

Based at Hammerton Road Police Station, the team is headed by Inspector Darren Starkey. The team consists of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Special Constables, a Children and Young Persons Officer, a Safer Neighbourhoods Officer and a Crime Reduction Officer. We also have a dedicated CID team.

This area consists of three Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT), Deepcar, Hillsborough/Stannington/Wisewood/Loxley/Middlewood and Upperthorpe/Netherthorpe/walkley/ langsett. We are dedicated teams who are visible, accessible and familiar to your communities.

The SNTs are ready to tackle issues that affect people's day-to-day lives, like criminal damage and nuisance behaviour. Besides simply responding to incidents, the teams work with the communities they serve to pinpoint problems and try to find long-term solutions We aim to reduce local crime, bring more offenders to justice, and address quality of life issues through a problem-solving approach with communities.

"My Team and I are keen to deliver the Police Service that our communities want. It is fundementally important  that our communites needs and concerns drive what we do. To help achieve this the 'Policing Pledge' has introduced a new consulation structure, called PACT (Partners And Communities Together). This is new engagement process which gives the public the opportunity to have their voice heard and for the police to focus activity accordingly.  The PACT meetings are held monthly and are attended by your Policing Team. Please take a look through the Web Site and see what your current Local Priorities are. You will also see where your nearest PACT meeting is.  I would encourage you to come along to the meetings and help us to deliver the priorities that you want. The meetings also provide an opportunity for us to tell you what work has been done towards your Local Priorities"  Inspector Darren Starkey
