what issues concerned you most in your area?

 

You said: 

Drug dealing and drug use in the Washington Road area. In particular around the phone box and stairwells in the block of flats located opposite Pearl Street, and also the phone box and stairwells of the flats at the junction of Washington Road and Sharrow Lane.

This was made a  new priority at the P.A.C.T meeting on 25/11/2009 and continues to be a priority following the meeting on 03/03/10.

This is occuring between 4-8pm throughout the week.

We did: 

>Between 8/3-12/3/10 officers executed three drugs warrants in the Sharrow area seizing almost £500,000 worth in cannabis and arresting several foreign nationals, believed to be illegal immigrants.

>Officers executed a drugs warrant at an address at the flats on Washington Road on the 26/2/10 where several people were searched, one female was arrested and a small amount of cannabis was recovered, 

>During high visibility patrols in  the Washington Road area officers stopped 7 youths, their details were taken and advisory letters have now be sent to their parents regarding their behaviour.

> An excellent arrest followed a routine parking complaint on 12/02/10 when officers arrested the male for a number of offences, including drugs related offences. 

> Officers discovered and dismantled a cannabis factory in the sharrow area on the 21st of January.

> This PACT Priority has so far received 170 hrs patrol time (as at 25/03/10) since its setting on the 25/11/09

> Operation K-KRASSUS is an ongoing Police operation aimed at dealing with Anti-Social behaviour. Both the local Police team and the area response group have been targeting patrols around areas with problems of anti-social behaviour, this area has benefitted from these increased patrols.

> Officers from the SNA continue to carry out high visibility patrols in the area working along with plain clothed officers from CID. 

> Following the efforts of officers from the Sharrow Safer Neighbourhood team a prolific drug dealer from the Landsdowne area is now back behind bars. The offender was recalled to prison due to breach of his release licence conditions and will be remanded until March.
