Update 5.5.2011
Woodhouse Safer Neighbourhood Team has been extremely proactive in addressing motor cycle nuisance in the area. Operation Kawasaki has involved Police and Communities working together to identify offenders leading to prosecutions and vehicle seizures.

The noise is sometimes a significant issue but the main concern reported to the Police was damage to communal land, dangerous or inconsiderate riding through housing areas or woods and the implication of riding with no insurance or documentation.
Community groups have backed the initiative with accurate and timely information and reports. Local Community Officers have secured support from the Force Helicopter, Mounted Officers and officers from South Yorkshire Police Road Policing Group. It’s a real team effort.
One of the most innovative measures has been the use of telephoto lens cameras. The quality of photographic evidence has led to a number of arrests and successful prosecutions.
Acting Sergeant 160 Simon Kirkham leading the initiative commented : “The support from communities and partner agencies has been immense. Our telephoto lens cameras have been extremely effective and word has spread. We have seen reductions of nuisance biking in areas where we have used the cameras. It’s difficult to evade the cameras on the helicopter too. Our message is clear. If you ride in a nuisance or illegal fashion it will prove costly to offenders. There are better alternatives and some appropriate off road facilities in the County that would be safer”
Anyone wishing to report motorcycle nuisance can call the Police (01142) 202020 or Sheffield City Council on the 101 number .
