Tension Kurdish Community
16/07/10 - Due to the increase of tension in the Kurdish community it has been decided by the SNT to monitor incidents in the area and to conduct high visibility patrols. This is to give the Kurdish community extra reassurance during this time.
18/07/10 - Patrols of area conducted by SNT staff between 8am and 5pm. There have no further incidents reported to South Yorkshire Police, St.Leger housing or DMBC at this time.
19/07/10 - Police Constable (PC) Freestone and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Colclough have conducted high visibility patrols of the Balby Bridge estate and activley engaged with members of the Kurdish Community.The Iraqi and Iranian meeting places in town centre were visited.
21/07/10 - Patrols conducted of Balby Bridge estate by all PCSO staff between 8am and 5pm. the local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) today worked along side partnership agencies who have reported that they have received no information or indications of tension or issues in the community.
22/07/10 - Today staff have liaised with DMBC and St Leger housing officers. No further tensions have been reported.
23/07/10 - High visibility patrols have been conducted in this community and the local SNT will continue to do so, to provide reassurance.
24/07/10 - A Police Islamic Awareness Day was held at Stirling Centre 12 x 4 pm. Excellent attendance by all groups from the area. No issues or tensions before, during or after the event. Groups from both of the local Mosque attended the event also. The event was attended by Police Sergeant (PS) West, PC Hoyland, PCSO Colclough. A senior command officer from South Yorkshire Police was also in attendance.
26/07/10 - Patrols of the area were made by PCSOs Colclough and Martin at approx 2pm for one hour. PC Freestone and Special Constable (SC) Lydon have also been patrolling the area at approx 8pm for one hour.
27/07/10 - PC Freestone and PCSO Colclough patrolled the estate between 1pm and 8pm. Members of Kurdish community were spoken to and engaged with. No tension or concerns were raised by those residents spoken to.
28/07/10 - PCSO Colclough and PCSO Martin conducted foot patrols on estate at regular intervals between 2pm and 10pm.
29/07/10 - PC Freestone patrolled the estate estate between 8am and 11am. PCSO Colclough and PCSO Martin carried out high visibility patrols between 3pm and 5pm. No further information received via SYP, St.Leger housing or DMBC to suggest further tension in community. The DMBC Neighbourhood Response Team have also been patrolling the area in their CCTV van during evening.
30/07/10 - PCSO Colclough and PCSO Martin patrol area throughout 1pm x 10pm shift. Community Safety Wardens (CSWs) also include Balby Bridge in their hot spot area patrols. No incidents have been reported or intelligence received to suggest any further tension in Kurdish community at this time.
03/08/10 - PCSO Colclough, PCSO Bates and PCSO Martin include area in patrols for day shift 8am x 5pm. There have been no reported incidents or information received during this time that would suggest tension within the community. CSWs have also conducted high visibility foot patrols in the immediate area.
04/08/10 - PCSO Colclough and PCSO Martin carryout patrols of area between 12am and 2pm..
05/08/2010 4 PCSO’s from Hyde Park SNT patrol area between 9am and 11.30am and again at 2pm x 4pm. No information received from partner agencies, community or otherwise to suggest tension within the community.
06/08/2010 PCSO Colclough and PCSO martin patrol; area. No incidents reported via South Yorkshire or partner agencies that would suggest further tensions.
07/08/2010 PC freestone and PCSO Colclough conduct high visibility patrols of the estate. St Leger Housing and DMBC have no further reports or information to suggest further tensions.
11/08/2010 PC freestone has conducted joint tenancy visits with St Leger estate officer. PCSO Colclough and PCSO Evans have patrolled area between 8pm and 9:30pm.
12/08/2010 PCSO Colclough has carried out high visibility foot patrols between 3pm and 5pm, then again between 7pm and 9pm. No further tensions or incidents reported to police or partners. Contacts within Kurdish community spoken with and they state that there are no current concerns at this time.
13/08/2010 PCSO Colclough and PCSO Martin patrol area at intervals between 1pm and 10pm. No intelligence to suggest further tensions. No incidents reported to police or partner agencies during this time.
16/08/2010 PCSO Colclough, PCSO Martin and PC Freestone patrol area between 9am and 11am.
17/08/2010 PCSO Colclough and PCSO Martin patrol Balby Bridge estate. Liaised with St Leger Housing staff who have received no reports of community tension regarding this group of the community. PCSO Bates patrols area between 1pm and 3pm.
18/08/2010 DMBC,St Leger Housing and Police hold multi-agency meeting. No information passed from any agency that would indicate a rise in community tension. Patrols conducted by PCSO’s throughout 8 am x 5pm shift.
19/08/2010 PCSO Colclough and PC Freestone conduct foot patrols of area between 9am and 11am. No incidents have been reported during this time.
19/08/2010 - At this evenings PACT meeting it was decided that this PACT priority would now be discharged.
