Speeding Vehicles and Over Weight Vehicles using Windmill Balk Lane, Adwick

Apart from the usual daily patrols on Windmill Balk lane, local officers set up a small operation. Using the already installed speed awareness displays, officers were able to stop and advise a small amount of drivers if there speed was over the 30mph limit. The officers did not encounter any overweight vehicles using this stretch of road during the operation. With these results it is evident that the message is getting through to local residents to slow down.

The local (RPG) "Road Policing Group" police officer has been contacted and will be paying specific attention to this problem.
November
Officers from the local SNA will patrol the area and carry out speed checks on vehicles as well as stop any vehicles not complying with the weight restriction
7th November
Pc Dave High and members of Outwood school monitored traffic and vehiclees on Windmill Balk Lane. Using a hand held speed gun, they engaged with motorists and explained the dangers of speeding and the effect it has on the school pupils who use the road.
30th November
Officers from the patrol team stopped 10 vehicles exceeding the speed limit on Windmill balk lane over a 1 hour period. All drivers advised re their driving
30th December
Officers from Adwick SNT conducted speed/HGV checks on Windmill Balk ln,Adwick le street, 50 vehicles checked and 2 stopped and advised. Further speed checks conducted on Vilage st, Adwick le st, 2o vehicles checked.
18th January 2012
Between the last entry on 30th December both the Police and Council have made continuous checks on vehicles using Windmill Balk Lane. During this period no vehicles have monitored exceeding the speed limit.
We will continue to monitor this and advise/prosecute as required.
Speeding or Overweight vehicles on Windmill Balk Lane, Woodlands.
It has been reported that over the last few weeks residents have seen overweight and speeding vehicles driving along this street. This is causing an issue as there is a weight restriction for large HGV’s and 2 schools on the street.
