Speeding vehicles around Staincross and Mapplewell
Speed checks have been conducted in the Darton East area by the local SNT officers. Traffic officers have also conducted speed gun work in the area and several motorists have been processed for breaking the 30mph and 40mph speed limits. Several motorists have been reported on summons to attend Barnsley Magistrates court and some have been issued fixed penalty notices which consists of 3 penaly points and a £80 fine. Darton SNT have also been working with the duty group officers who are now trained to use the speed gun. The duty group officers will also deploy the speed gun in the Mapplewell, Staincross, Darton and Kexborough areas.
As part of the work towards achieving the local PACT prioritiy of reducing speeding vehicles in Mapplewell, SNT staff called upon the support of colleagues from the Special Support Group who work from the Operations Complex in Sheffield.
An operation was conducted last Thursday (14th Oct 2011) evening on Spark Lane and a total of 10 drivers received Fixed Penalty Notices for speeding (6), no seatbelt (2), using their phone whilst driving (1), and a dodgy type (1). A further 13 drivers were stopped and cautioned about their speed.
A driver was issued with a notice for using his vehicle, causing anti-social behaviour and information was gathered for intelligence purposes.
The operation was welcomed by residents who actually approached officers and thanked them for their work. Further operations are planned over the next few weeks.
On Monday 14th November 2011, officers from the Darton Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted speed checks on Spark Lane, Mapplewell. Four vehicles were found to have been driven in excess of the 30mph speed limit applicable to that road. All four drivers were reported on summons at the scene for the offence.
Officers from the Darton and Dodworth Safer Neighbourhood Teams conducted further speed checks on Spark Lane, Mapplewell on Monday 12th December 2011, Three vehicles were found to have been driven in excess of the 30mph speed limit applicable to that road. The drivers were reported on summons at the scene for the offence. The fourth driver received a fixed penalty notice for £60.00 and will receive 3 penalty points on his driving licence.
Further speed checks on Tuesday 13th December 2011, were conducted by Darton and Dodworth Safer Neighbourhood Team officers on Spark Lane. Four drivers were stopped for exceeding the speed limit, one received a fixed penalty notice for £60.00 and will receive 3 penalty points on his driving licence. The other drivers were reported on summons for the offence. All the drivers provided negative breath tests as part of the Christmas Drink Drive Campaign.
On Tuesday 20th December 2011, officers from the Darton Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted speed checks on Spark Lane, Mapplewell. Four vehicles were found to have been driven in excess of the 30mph speed limit. Three drivers were reported on summons at the scene and the fourth driver received a fixed panalty notice for the offence. All the drivers provided negative breath tests as part of the Christmas Drink Drive Campaign.
On Tuesday 7th February 2012 officers from Darton Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted speed check on Spark Lane, Mapplewell, Pogmoor Road, Pogmoor and Smithies Lane, Honeywell. Two speed advisory courses have been recommended and two fixed penalty tickets for £60 and three points issued.
