Anti-social behaviour and vehicle related nuisance on Main Road, Darnall area, near to the local shops.

The anti-social behaviour is being committed in early evening times. No day is specific in relation to the anti-social behaviour.

We did: 

The local PC's and PCSO's have carried out high visibility patrols in the area on a daily basis.  Where young people have been identified as being involved in anti social behaviour, their parents have been informed of their son/daughter's behaviour by was of a Parent Advisory Letter (PAL).  More than 90 PAL were delivered to young people living in the Darnall and Tinsley Safer Neighbourhood Area in the month to 8 July 2010.  If young people are repeatedly identified as being involved with anti social behaviour, they are invited into Attercliffe Police Station with their parents to discuss their behaviour and are issued with an Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC). 

The Darnall and Tinsley Safer Neighbourhood Team are working in partnership with Parking Services to combat the parking issues which exist in the Main Road/Staniforth Road area of Darnall.

Operation Giro - July 2010

In response from members of the public and intelligence received in relation to drug dealing and the smoking of cannabis in the Main Road area of Darnall, Operation Giro was formulated by PCSO 8011 Boyer to combat the problem.  Operation Giro commenced on Wednesday 7 July 2010 and ran for 3 consecutive nights.  The Darnall and Tinsley Safer Neighbourhood Team which includes Police Officers, PCSOs and Special Constables were all utilised.  PC Bob Kilby and his passive drugs dog Eddie, assited on the 2nd and 3rd nights of the Operation.

The primary areas targeted were Darnall Main Road, the rear of Main Road shops and the gennel which runs from the junction of Main Road/Staniforth Road towards Station Road car park.

The results of Operation Giro were as follows:

3 individuals received Street Cautions for Cannabis
17 Intelligence reports were submitted
34 Stop Searches following positive indications by Eddie the passive drugs dog
20 Stop and Acounts
Assisted in the arrest of 1
