SECTION 12 ORDER- This a designated area to prevent the consumption of alcohol. All such areas are clearly signposted.
SECTION 12 POWERS - The Police and PCSO`s have the power to confiscate alcohol off any person or persons consuming alcohol in a SECTION 12 Area. Refusal to allow a Police Officer or PCSO to confiscate the alcohol could result in a £50 Fixed Penalty Notice being issued.
SECTION 30 ORDER - This means that if you are hanging around in a group of 2 or more, you can be asked to do one or more of the following:-
- Split up from the group you are with. This may be immediately or by such a time the Police officer or PCSO sees fit.
- If you do not live in the Town Centre area, then you will be asked to leave, either immediately or by such a time the Police officer or PCSO sees fit.
- Any persons who do not reside in the Town Centre area may be asked to leave the area for up to 24 hours.
Both Police officers and PCSO’s can enforce the Section 30 Order.
The order also means that if you are under the age of 16 and NOT with a responsible person of 18 years or older, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9PM AND 6AM, then you may also be removed from the area. You may then be taken home or to a place that the Police officer or PCSO deems safe.

28/06/2010 - Mushroom Town Centre - 1 x 3 litre bottle of cider confiscated from a male.
29/06/2010 - Mushroom Town Centre - 1 x can of lager and 2x bottles of cider confiscated from males.

01/07/2010 - Mushroom, Town Centre - Complaints about the two males begging.Both males dispersed under Section 30 for 24 hours.
01/07/2010 - Mandela Gardens - 1 x Can of Lager and 1 x Bottle of Cider taken from an unknown elderly male, verbal warning given. A group of college students advised and made to clear up all the litter from the area.
01/07/2010 - Mushroom - 1 x can of Lager confiscated from a male. Verbal warning given.
01/07/2010 - Barnsley Interchange - 1 x can of Lager confiscated from outside the Interchange from a unknown youth. Verbal warning given.
03/07/2010 - Mandela Gardens - 1 x can of Lager confiscated from a male, Verbal warning given.
06/07/2010 - Mushroom - 1 x 2 litre bottle of Cider confiscated from a male and female sat under the Mushroom, Barnsley Town Centre.
08/07/2010 - Mushroom - 1 x of larger confiscated from a male. The male was then given a ASB Formal Verbal Warning for causing alarm and distress to people in the area by using bad language and drinking in a Section 12 area.
16/07/2010 - Mandela Gardens - 2 x Cans of Stella confiscated from a female. Verbal warning given.
21/07/2010 - Cheapside -2 x cans of larger confiscated from 2 males.
24/07/2010 - Mushroom - 1 x of alcohol taken from a male, appropriately advised , he will receive an ASB. First Letter.
28/07/2010 - Peel Square - 1 x can of alcohol confiscated from a male.
04/08/2010 - Mandela Gardens - Group of five males moved out of Mandela gardens after a complaint form The Civic staff.
05/08/2010 - Mushroom - 3 x cans of lager confiscated from 3 males.
Interchange - 1 x bottle of vodka confiscated from a male, verbal warning given.
10/08/2010 - Mandela Gardens - 1 x bottle of cider confiscated from a male. Large group of youths also moved on.

17/08/2010 - Mandela Gardens - 2 x cans of lager confiscated from a male and female.

23/08/2010 - Mushroom - 4 x cans of alcohol confiscated from 4 males.One of the males was dispersed under SEC 30 due to him swearing whilst members of the public present.

03/09/2010 - Mushroom - Alcohol taken from a male. Additional patrol at 16:20 to 16:45 hrs - 1 x bottle of white cider taken from a male, - Male agreed to attend a meeting to discuss an Acceptable Behaviour Contract.
09/09/2010 - Mushroom - 1 x can of fosters larger confiscated from a male, 1x can of fosters larger confiscated from a female.
10/09/2010 - Mushroom - Alcohol confiscated from a male, given ASB Formal verbal Warning.
