Parking/obstruction issues relating to School drop off / collections - Eden Grove Rd, Edenthorpe

We set this as a top 3 priority on the 06/08/09 our records agree with your reports. Research and development of the project is taking place. Armthorpe SNT to patrol and deal accordingly with issues identified using appropriate partners as necessary.

As the schools are now on their summer break this priority is one we are planning our actions for on the return to school in September. The Safer Neighbourhood Team, will look to advise and remind parents to be mindful and considerate in their parking when dropping off and collecting their children. This advice will then be followed up with enforcement if required.

Letters prepared to be distributed to each pupil at the start of the school term in relation to parking issues on the roads surrounding the school. 350 produced
Contact made with caretaker at the school to establish when the Head and other teachers will be present to deliver main pack of letters.

Delivered letters to school secretary in readiness for first day of term and spoken to school secretary explaining the reasons behind the letter distribution.

School parking patrol carried out for children leaving school. One parent spoken to in relation to issues in the morning drop off advised we have been on afters shift and that we would get our council colleagues to address the issue in the mornings this week.
One parking advisory notice given out and the driver advised.
Parent advised that her daughter had been given our prepared letters in relation to parking delivered to school last week.

A meeting has taken place today between CSW Karan Fox, the school head and DMBC transport planner. Short, medium and long term plans have been developed for tackling the parking issues which include alternative parking sites, walking bus proposals, education strategy and some storage facilities within the school for bikes & scooters.
More high visibility patrol will be carried out in the run up to half term with a view to enforcement rather than the issue of advice that has been given over the last 5 or 6 weeks.

Contacted Ridgewood Public House, to check if they were willing to provide alternative parking. Agreed however, checks need to be made with the brewery. Attempts to contact representative at brewery unsuccessful as on annual leave. Will return Monday 26th October.

Contact made with Manager of Tescos they have agreed to provide alternative parking in overspill area for parents.
Once approval given from Brewery can contact headmaster to firm up letter for all pupils listing the alternative parking areas for parents.

On Friday 23/10/09, the final day of term a report was received of two recycling lorries causing an obstruction at 3.15pm. Enquiries have revealed that the bin lorries were in fact blocked in by an unattended car that was obstructing access. Further enquiries are ongoing to identify the offending vehicle/driver.

Still waiting for confirmation from the brewery in respect of the Ridgewood Public House. Reported back to Parish Council at Edenthorpe of long term plans for parking at the school in sourcing alternative parking locations. And that a letter will go out in conjunction with the school in respect of this when confirmed.

Patrols following teacher training day Monday 02/11/09.
High visability patrols by two officers. One Fixed Penalty Notice issued to vehicle causing obstruction parking too close to the junction of Gurth Avenue/ Eden Grove Road.

Parking patrols carried out on Eden Grove Road and The Crescent in Edenthorpe, two motorists given advice on parking.
An additional motorist was given a parking advisory notice and advice about leaving valuables in the vehicle. The vehicle owner was reluctant to accept the advice.

This priority is now being finalised as alternative parking arrangements have been sourced. Patrols will continue to ensure no further action is required.
