For four days last week officers from the City Centre SNA ran an operation to tackle anti-social behaviour. A total of five arrests were made for offences including drunk & disorderly, public order offences and assault. A total of eight nuisance youth complaints were dealt with resulting in a parental advisory letter being sent to a young person's parents.
Six street drinkers were dealt with and a further four individuals were stopped and searched. Advise was also given to a stall selling belt buckles that double up as knuckle-dusters. Further work in the city centre is planned throughout the summer months to make sure visitors to the city centre can enjoy themselves. If you have any issues that you would like us to know about please contact us via the phone number or email address detailed on this website.
This operation follows on from a previous one carried out earlier in the summer.
Between the 19th and 22nd July officers from the City Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out an operation to tackle anti-social behaviour on the streets of the city centre. Whilst most people enjoy the warm evenings of summer sensibly, a small minority take the opportunity to drink to excess, behave inappropriately and potentially spoil other people's enjoyment of the city centre.
Over the four days a total of nine people were arrested for offences ranging from begging, public order offences, breaches of court orders to being drunk and disorderly. A further four section 27 dispersal orders were given, requiring individuals to leave the city centre for a minimum of 24 hours.
Eight street drinkers were also dealt with by having their alcohol confiscated, eight licensed premises were checked to make sure they were complying with the terms of their licenses and six reported incidents of youth-related nuisance were dealt with. Officers involved in the operation also held meetings with two premises that have been repeat locations for anti-social behaviour to look at how we can work together to prevent further issues.
