As part of life as a footballer, we get asked to lend our support to many charity events and initiatives set up by local authorities and it’s great to see when these initiatives are successful ones that make a difference in people’s everyday lives. After visiting Sport FX with fellow Barnsley F.C. player, Bobby Hassell, it was clear that it is achieving the goals it set out to accomplish by using sport to help kids and build their confidence.
The importance of Sport FX goes much further than simply giving the local 11-18 year olds a chance to have a kick around or get some exercise, especially for those at the older end of the scale. In many ways, it’s the 16-18 year olds that tend to be forgotten about and it was great to see the competitiveness and enjoyment that was on show. The biggest compliment I can give to Sport FX is that it’s working in helping inspiring youngsters to greater things through sport and long may that continue.
