Lifestyle project volunteers address issues of littering, graffiti and animal welfare in the Cudworth parks.
Four Year 7 pupils from Willowgarth High School will be carrying out regular patrols on The Dell, Grimethorpe and Darfield Road Park, Cudworth, to address issues of littering, graffiti and animal welfare under the supervision of PCSO Annette Cooley from Cudworth Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
PCSO Cooley accompanied the ‘Park Patrol’ students to the Tea in the Park event on the 18 July 2009, with a devised questionnaire for members of the public that addressed their views of the condition of local parks. The students also had the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Barnsley Cllr John Parkinson and the Mayoress, Mrs Linda Parkinson who invited ‘Park Patrol ‘to present their completed project to him at the Town Hall, with an extended visit to his parlour.
PCSO Annette Cooley from Cudworth SNT stated, “I was delighted that school contacted me to help with this project that will be beneficial for the whole community. The group are eager and have made a good start with their ideas and designs.”
