Acting on concerns from local residents about speeding vehicles, PC Lightfoot and PC Pescador-Smith from Armthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out speed enforcement activity on Saturday 21st May 2011.
Six drivers were stopped and advised for travelling at speeds between 40 and 45mph. One driver was cautioned regarding failure to wear a seatbelt.
One driver was stopped and cannabis could be smelt inside the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, a small amount of cannabis resin was recovered and seized. The driver was issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice for possession of a controlled drug. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have also been notified about this incident, as required by the Road Traffic Act.
A motorcyclist was cautioned regarding excess speed and issued with a £60 fixed penalty notice for an unreadable registration plate.
Armthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team intend to carry out further checks at this location and then feed back to residents.
