You said: 

Antisocial behaviour on the Firshill estate.

This is occurring mainly during the afternoon and into late evening on all days.

We did: 

In response to your attendance and setting this issue as a priority, activities include: (Updated 03-08-2011 SM)

  • Further intelligence gathering
  • Increased high visibility foot and cycle patrols, carried out daily and reported on. 
  • Carry on further enquiries to gather intelligence and information 
  • Stopping people and asking for them to account for their presence in the area
  • Directing patrols through other teams within the police service
  • Joint walkabout with Sheffield Homes

  • We have stop and accounted/searched  people in the street
  • We have issued  tickets for various traffic related offences
  • We have issued Parking Advisory Notice’s
  • We have identified vulnerable vehicles and sent letters to the owners,
  • We continue to identify young people causing anti social behaviour and send letters to their parents (PAL Letter)   
  • We carry out regular parking operations to tackle problems at Osgathorpe mosque
  • We carry out regular parking operations to tackle problems at primary schools.
  • We have reported vehicles to the DVLA for having no road tax.
  • We issue warning to a person using a vehicle in a nuisance manner. We have seized vehicle for driving in an antisocial manner.  
  • We have street caution for possession of cannabis
  • We continue Operation KP Wider where we aim to reduce off road motorcycle incidents   
  • Where possible we will attempt to resolve disputes/incidents with engaging the offenders in Restorative Justice.  
  • We carried out Test Purchase Operations, where, premises failed.
  • A Fixed Penalty Fine was given to a male for using foul and abusive language outside Whiteways school.
  • We executed a drugs warrant. Cannabis was recovered from the address and male was detained

Particularly in the late afternoons and evenings, but also throughout the day.

We did: 

This priority will remain so throughout this month. It is a priority that requires a long term plan for enforcement, engagement and diversion.  In addition to the regular officers for your area, there have been extra resources in the area, including our Road Crime Unit, who specialise in vehicle offences and related crime.   • We continue increased the number of cycle, foot and mobile patrols in the locality
  • We have stop searched/accounted  people in the street
  • We have identified vehicles that are vulnerable and sent letters to the owners
  • We are working with our partners to clean up the area and taking part in walkabouts to highlight the problem areas
  • While patrolling the area, we have spoken to local shop keepers and security guards
  • Submitted Intelligence reports as a result of information received that may lead to other activity

At the last meeting, criminal damage and number plate theft were a concern on and around Crabtree Road. There have been a number of reported incidents of late.

  • Assisted underwater search at Crabtree Ponds for stolen number plates.

The PACT (Partners And Communities Together) meeting for your area is held on the first Wednesday of the month from 6pm at Sorby House, Spital Hill.  This is your chance to meet members of your safer neighbourhood team and discuss issues that concern you and the area in which you live, and be a part of the tasking process for both the Police, and our partners who are also invited to the meeting to discuss issues that may not be a Policing matter.

  • 1 male was arrested for theft from a motor vehicle.
  • We have issued 2 Restorative Justice orders.
  • We arrested 1 male for Section 5 public Order offences.
  • 4 people were recently arrested for the possession and production of cannabis.
  • A male was Street Bailed for the possession of a bladed article.
  • We have recently run a test purchase operation across the SNA where 5 out of 12 premises tested failed and were issued £80 fines.
  • We have recently been stop checking drivers for drink driving offences across the SNA. 16 tests conducted, all negative.
  • We have recently run an operation where 5 tickets were issued for wearing no seat belt, 1 Fixed penalty notice for no insurance, 1 fixed penalty notice for section 5 Public Order and 1 Heavy goods vehicle was seized on behalf of customs for running on red diesel

The PACT (Partners And Communities Together) meeting for your area is held on the first Wednesday of the month from 6pm at Sorby House, Spital Hill.  This is your chance to meet members of your safer neighbourhood team and discuss issues that concern you and the area in which you live, and be a part of the tasking process for both the Police, and our partners who are also invited to the meeting to discuss issues that may not be a Policing matter.

You said: 

At the last meeting, Anti Social Behaviour and Youth Nuisance on and around Brunswick Road flats is becoming a particular problem. There are people gathering in groups, appearing intimidating to others.

  • Stop and account persons believed to be involved in anti social behaviour
  • Gather and act upon intelligence in relation to specific times of occurrences
  • We have liaised with partner agencies

  • We have stop and accounted/searched  people in the street
  • We have issued 5 tickets for various traffic related offences
  • We have identified 100 vulnerable vehicles and sent letters to the owners,
  • We have issued 1 warning to people driving in an anti-social manor.  
  • We continue to identify young people causing anti social behaviour and send letters to their parents (PAL Letter) . 5 letters have been sent out so far.
  • We carry out regular parking operations to tackle problems at Osgathorpe mosque
  • We carry out regular parking operations to tackle problems at primary schools.
  • We have reported vehicles to the DVLA for having no road tax
  • We issue warnings to people using vehicles in a nuisance manner, and if necessary we will sieze vehicles  
  • We continue Operation KP Wider where we aim to reduce off road motorcycle incidents   
  • Were possible we will attempt to resolve disputes/incidents with engaging the offenders in Restorative Justice.
  • A male has recently been arrested for theft of £3500.  
  • We arrested 2 males from richmond flats for the possession of class A and B drugs.
  • 4 fixed penalty notice has been issued for possession of cannabis.
  • 1 male was arrested for theft from a motor vehicle.
  • We have issued 2 Restorative Justice orders.
  • We arrested 1 male for Section 5 public Order offences.
  • 4 people were recently arrested for the possession and production of cannabis.
  • A male was Street Bailed for the possession of a bladed article.
  • We have recently ran a test purchase operation across the SNA where 5 out of 12 premises tested failed and were issued £80 fines.
  • We have recently been stop checking drivers for drink driving offences across the SNA. 16 tests conducted, all negative.

This priority will remain so throughout this month. In addition to the regular officers for your area, there have been extra resources in the area, including our Road Crime Unit, who specialise in vehicle offences and related crime. Activities so far include..... (Updated 21-02-2011 SM)

  • We have so far increased the number of cycle, foot and mobile patrols in the locality
  • We have stop searched/accounted  people in the street
  • We have identified vehicles that are vulnerable and sent letters to the owners

You said: 

Drug misuse, using and supplying still remains an issue for the residents of Firshill.  Cars are regularly seen acting suspiciously throughout the day and users are walking the streets around Firshill.  There are signs of misuse in Roe Woods where needles are discarded.
