- Wentworth North has continued to see reductions in levels of crime and antisocial behaviour. Crime in general has seen a decrease of 18.5%. Vehicle crime decreased by 32.6% . Burglary decreased by 35.9% . Anti social behaviour decreased 4%.
- The team have continued to tackle reports of drug related activity. Two warrants have been executed in the Broadway area of Swinton area. The seizures were all for cannabis production with over 18 plants recovered in total. This would relate to a street value of £4000. Two persons are on police bail pending forensic results for production of a controlled drug. The team are working with the council on tenancy enforcement two addresses.
- The schools officer PC White is involved in a programme of events over the summer break period. The events are aimed at diverting young people away from anti social behavior.
- The team conducted a speed education operation on Sandygate, Wath and Brampton Road, Brampton. The operation involved the police working with young persons from Wath Comprehensive School stopping motorists speeding in the location. Instead of the normal enforcement options the children spoke to motorists to advise them about their driving. 43 motorists were advised about speeding and one person arrested for possession of cannabis.
- The team have worked with students from Wath Comprehensive School at Tesco, Wath and Cortonwood. Retail Park, looking at vehicle security. This involved advising motorists about leaving valuable items on view in their vehicles.
- A prolific shoplifter was arrested for a string of offences. He has been put to the court for an ASBO to assist with police in preventing a reoccurrence of this behaviour.
- A person is on bail for targeting vulnerable adults in Wath with lending money at high interest rates. This matter has been referred to a special unit who tackle this type of crime.
- The police worked with the council Licensing department on the 30th July 2010 targeting public houses in the Swinton area. There were no license breaches in any of the premises.
- Cortonwood has been subject of increased police activity due to reports of nuisance vehicles. A number of drivers have been issued with warning notices regarding their manner of driving. 5 littering fixed penalty notices have also been issued for litter and 1 for public order. The police are working with the site managers to look at long term security measures for the site.
