On Friday the 6th of August at TESCO on Abbeydale Drive, Abbeydale Rd, PCSO's from the Southwest Safer Neighbourhood Team and crime reduction staff worked alongside the A.A offering motorists the opportunity to receive free home and vehicle crime prevention packs and advise.
The AA offered motorists the chance to have "Anti-theft" screws fitted to their vehicle's number plates for a nominal fee of £1. The screws are designed to prevent the theft of number plates, which could then be used in a variety of offence's. (One motorist returned three times with family members vehicles!)
The aptly named "HANDS OFF !" event was very well received by the public with almost 200 shoppers given crime prevention advise, and around 150 motorists vehicles fitted with the anti-theft screws.
It is hoped that the Team can run another event at Tesco in the very near future.
