The safer neighbourhood teams have been working with the DVLA, targeting illegal vehicles on public roads. The focus of the work is on the removal of untaxed vehicles. It is NOT a revenue generating exercise. Many of these vehicles are uninsured, unroadworthy and they are often involved in other criminal activity. The DVLA assist the police in denying the criminal use of the roads.
They have increased the size of their proactive operations across our neighbourhoods and have setup an e-mail address for you to report untaxed vehicles to them.
The email system also helps to reduce the number of abandoned vehicles in your area and the associated criminality e.g vandalism and arson. Since beginning work in our neighbourhoods, there has been a significant reduction of these incidents. With your help it can be reduced even further.
